Partick Thistle will host a educational street theatre performance at half time of their game against Hamilton this weekend to raise awareness of infectious diseases in Africa.
Glasgow University has collaborated with Surge Theatre to produce the Parasite Street Science performance that aims to engage the public on the effects of diseases including sleeping sickness in Malawi.
Funding was recently awarded to a team from the uni to work on public engagement in relation to ongoing research on the issues.
The group are set to fly out to perform at football matches throughout Malawi in the coming weeks.
On Saturday the group will practice their performance in front of the Firhill crowd for the first time before they perform educationally at games in the African nation.
The Championship club revealed the plans on their social media pages on Tuesday.
Partick Thistle Chief Executive, Gerry Britton, said: “When researchers at the University of Glasgow reached out to us late last season about the prospect of performing an educational street theatre performance ahead of their trip to Malawi, it was a no-brainer for us to give them the platform to rehearse.
“The work being done by the University of Glasgow and Surge Theatre to raise awareness of infectious diseases in Malawi is critically important and if we can help by giving them a platform then it is the least we can do.
“Everyone at Thistle wishes all involved the best of luck with all performances – both at Firhill and in Malawi itself.”
The Maryhill club also revealed last week that season ticket holders will be able to travel for free on First Bus services in Glasgow for any home match this season.
