Passengers on rush hour trains into Glasgow are facing disruption after a “fault” with the signalling system at Queen Street.
ScotRail warned services running to and from the busy station could face being cancelled, revised or delayed.
A number of journeys from Edinburgh have been cancelled – with services now reduced to half hourly from Waverley.
Trains are said to be running at reduced speeds after the fault was identified in the Cowlairs area affecting all trains coming in and out of the station.
Network Rail posted on X: “A signal fault at Cowlairs is causing major delays to trains arriving into Queen Street.
“Services between Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk High are now running half hourly while our team work to fix this as soon as possible.”
National Rail said: “A fault with the signalling system is disrupting services that run to, from and through Glasgow Queen Street.
“Trains will be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 30 minutes.”
Disruption is expected to last until around 11.30am.
Meanwhile passengers travelling to Glasgow Central via Paisley Gilmour Street faced similar disruption in the early hours of the morning due to a fault.
Services were cancelled and delayed at Gilmour Street before some lines reopened.
Journeys to Gourock and Wemyss Bay were affected.
