A pensioner has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car on a busy Kilmarnock street.

Police received a report of a collision involving a car and a 91‑year‑old man on Monday, April 6.

Emergency services raced to the scene on Green Street in East Ayrshire at around 10.30am.

The 91‑year‑old remains in hospital for treatment. His condition is not known.

The road was closed for almost three hours but reopened at around 1pm.

Police say enquiries are ongoing.

A statement read: “Green Street in Kilmarnock has re-opened following a crash involving a car and a pedestrian which happened around 10.30am on Monday, 6 April, 2026.

“Emergency services attended, and the pedestrian, a 91-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment.

“No other injuries were reported.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
