Man, 56, in serious condition after being hit by lorry

A pedestrian is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a lorry in South Ayrshire.

Emergency services were called to the crash on the A77 between Turnberry and Girvan around 9.35pm on Thursday involving a Volvo HGV.

The pedestrian, a 56-year-old man, was taken to hospital with what are described as serious injuries.

No other serious injuries were reported.

The road was closed for around three hours while investigations were carried out.

Sergeant Scott Gourlay said: “Enquiries are ongoing, and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to get in touch with us.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the pedestrian walking in the area between Girvan and Turnberry around this time.

“Anyone with information or dash-cam footage is asked to come forward, contacting Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3544 of September 25, 2025.”
