A pensioner has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to Beith Road at around 8.30am following reports of a serious crash involving a pedestrian and a red Toyota Corolla.

An 85-year-old man was transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. The driver of the car was uninjured.

Officers closed the road until 2.10pm following the crash. Police are now asking witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation.

Police Sergeant Paul Mellis of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.

“The road re-opened at 2.10pm on Sunday, December 29, 2024.

“I want to thank members of the public for their patience while we investigated this serious crash.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0814 of 29 December, 2024.”
