Pensioner robbed at knife-point in three-hour long ordeal

A pensioner has been robbed at knife-point during a “traumatic” three-hour long ordeal in her own home in Glasgow.

A man entered a 70-year-old woman’s home in Ibrox Terrace around 6.15am on Sunday and threatened her with a knife.

He stole cash, a mobile phone and personal possessions, before leaving around 9.15am.

The victim did not sustain any injuries but was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as a precaution.

Police have launched an investigation as they try to trace the perpetrator, who is described as white, in his mid-40s, of slim build, around 5 ft 10 ins in height and clean shaven with short black hair.

He spoke with a local Glaswegian accent and was wearing a dark short jacket, dark grey jeans, while carrying a grey shoulder bag.

Constable Siobhan McKenna said: “Although the woman did not sustain any injuries, it was an extremely frightening and prolonged attack lasting three hours.

“It was a traumatic experience for her and she is being supported by her family and our officers.

“It is vital that we trace the person responsible. Initial enquiries indicate the man was in the Copland Road area before turning into Ibrox Terrace and entering the woman’s house.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw a man matching this description around 6.15am this morning, before the attack, or 9.15am, after the attack, to get in touch.

“I would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the suspect in the area.”
