Keltbray Chinatown Developments wants to see new homes, leisure facilities and public event spaces created in Cowcaddens

Plans to transform Glasgow’s Chinatown through a £160m regeneration project have been submitted.

The proposals from Keltbray Chinatown Developments would see new homes, leisure facilities and public event spaces created in Cowcaddens.

The Chinatown complex first opened in 1992 but has declined in recent years.

Keltbray said the proposed development would bring a “reinvigorated cultural hub and thriving mixed residential community” to the area.

The plans would see food, retail and local services created at ground level, while student accommodation and new homes would be created in flat blocks.

Robin Lim from Glasgow Chinatown said: “Central to the development of this masterplan has been a strong commitment to listening to and engaging with existing Chinatown tenants, alongside close collaboration with a trusted and experienced project team.
