Police appeal after man found dead and another left injured

A man has died after being found injured in South Lanarkshire.

Police are appealing for information into an incident that took place in Kirkmuirhill on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were called to the scene at Braeside Crescent at around 4.45pm and discovered two injured men.

Emergency services were also in attendance, and one of the men, a 30-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second man, a 35-year-old, was also taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment.

His condition is described as not life-threatening.

Extensive enquiries are being carried out by detectives to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

The death is being treated as suspicious, and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.

Officers will remain in attendance, and Vere Road, Braeside Crescent, Beechwood, Dormiston Road, and Craignethan View are closed to the public as investigations take place.

Detective Inspector Vicki Douglas: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time. They are being supported by specialist officers.

“If you were in the area at the time of this incident and saw anything suspicious then please get in touch.

“No matter how small that piece of information might be, please come forward.

“In particular, I would ask that people in the surrounding areas check their private CCTV or doorbell footage to see if it has captured anything of significance.

“Officers are carrying out a number of enquiries at this time so there will be an increased police presence in the area. Anyone who has concerns, or information, is encouraged to approach these officers.”
