Police say they are following a positive line of enquiry after a woman was murdered on a street in Glasgow, as the search for a “dangerous” man continues.
Elizabeth Colligan was pronounced dead after being found injured on Cardowan Road on Saturday morning.
Police launched a murder investigation following the 82-year-old’s death.
Grant McKinnon, who is being described as a “dangerous” person and is being hunted by police, was last seen in the area at the same time.
McKinnon is described as 6ft tall, with a shaved head and was last seen wearing a black jacket with a red hood and blue jeans.
STV NewsMembers of the public have been urged not to approach the 30-year-old and to call police immediately if he is spotted.
Officers are said to be following a “positive line of enquiry” and have launched an online portal where information, pictures and videos can be sent directly to the team.
Detective superintendent Gary Ferguson said: “Grant is considered to be dangerous and I’m appealing for information from the public to help us trace him as soon as possible.
“If anyone sees Grant, they should not approach him but contact police immediately.”
Police ScotlandDetective inspector Gordon Walker said: “Our thoughts remain with Elizabeth’s family and friends during this very difficult time. We are continuing to offer them our support as the investigation progresses.
“Officers are following a positive line of enquiry and work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what has happened. This includes door to door enquiries in the local area, as well as a detailed review of all available CCTV footage.
“We are especially keen to speak with anyone who saw or heard anything around 4am on Saturday, April 18, 2026.”
STV NewsChief inspector Jon Watters said: “We understand that this will be concerning for the local community, and we want to reassure the public that extensive enquiries are underway. There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, and anyone with information or concerns is encouraged to speak with officers.”
