An investigation has been launched after a man was assaulted in an alleged hate crime in Glasgow

Emergency services were called to Byres Road around 8.25am on Sunday following reports of an assault.

Police officers were unable to locate the injured man, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Detectives are also probing whether a hate crime was committed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.25am on Sunday, June 21, 2026, police were called to a report of a man being assaulted on Byres Road, Glasgow.

“Officers attended and there was no trace of the injured man in the area.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and anyone with information is asked to please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3221 of Sunday, June 21, 2026.”
