A hunt has been launched for two teenage girls after racial abuse was shouted at a man in South Lanarkshire.
The two girls allegedly hurled abusive comments towards a man at a supermarket in Douglas Park Lane, Hamilton around 9.20pm on Sunday. The girls then made off from the area following the incident.
Police are treating the incident as a hate crime.
Officers said the first girl had blonde hair and wearing a full black tracksuit and black Converse shoes with white soles.
The second girl is described as having brown/blonde hair with grey highlights and wearing an olive bomber jacket, a grey tracksuit and grey trainers.
Sgt Pamela Cormack said: “From our enquiries so far, this is being treated as a hate crime.
“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed what happened to please contact us.
“In addition, anyone who has dash-cam footage or CCTV which may assist is asked to get in touch.
“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident 3311 of October 12, 2025, or please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can give your information anonymously.”
