An 84-year-old pedestrian who died after being hit by a flatbed truck in South Lanarkshire has been named as local resident Robert Shira-Gibb.
The incident happened on Glasgow Road in Blantyre at around 5.55pm on Tuesday, December 19 and involved a white Isuzu Grafter Flatbed.
Emergency services attended and Mr Shira-Gibb was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he died on Wednesday, December 20.
A 53-year-old man, the driver of the Isuzu, was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and released pending further enquiries.
Sergeant Chris McColm said: “Our thoughts are with Mr Shira-Gibb’s family at this time.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone who has information that could assist and who has not yet spoken to officers is asked to get in touch.”
