Police officer among three injured in ‘assault by two men’

Two suspects, aged 21 and 20, have been arrested and charged over the incident in Paisley on Friday.

A police officer has been injured in an alleged assault by two young men.

The officer was one of three people taken to hospital after the incident on Seedhill Road, Paisley, Renfrewshire at around 9.20pm on Friday.

Two suspected attackers, aged 21 and 20, have been arrested and charged over the incident and are due in court on Monday.

Two men, aged 33 and 36, were taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital with injuries while a police officer was also taken to hospital.

All three were discharged after treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “An officer was assaulted during the incident and was taken to hospital and released after treatment.

“A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal and the two men are expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, July 6.”
