A police officer will stand trial accused of causing serious injury to a man during a road incident.

Sam Elliot, 32, allegedly drove a police van without due care and attention in Glasgow’s Dalmarnock on June 1, 2024.

Court papers state the constable failed to stop at a red light and did not slow down at the junction.

The charge goes on to say Elliot did not have right of way at the junction and caused the van to collide with a blue Vauxhall Insignia.

The van is further stated to have rolled, spun and struck barriers as well as traffic lights before the vehicle came to a rest.

Both vehicles are said to have been damaged, and a man was seriously injured as a result.

Elliot, who denies the single charge, has a notional trial set for next month for which he has been excused attendance.
