A man has been arrested and charged after police discovered £141,000 worth of cannabis during a routine stop.

Officers stopped a Toyota Avensis on the B7076 near Lockerbie on Wednesday, June 14 at around 8.50pm.

While searching the car, police said they discovered a large quantity of cannabis.

A man, aged 27, was arrested and charged in connection with the recovery.

He is expected to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Thursday, June 15.

Sergeant Lloyd Caven said: “This work has resulted in a significant amount of drugs being seized which will no longer end up on our streets.

“Tackling drug crime remains a priority and anyone who has concerns regarding drug misuse in their area should report this to police via 101.”
