Police have sealed off Glasgow’s Four Corners after an investigation into a potential serious assault in the early hours of the morning.

Officers said Jamaica Street is closed after a report of a disturbance and possible serious assault around 3.30am on Wednesday.

Police attended the scene but found no trace of anyone involved, with enquiries ongoing.

Businesses in the area, which include a number of pubs, restaurants and shops, are still operating.

Access by road to Midland Street at Jamaica Street is open, police said.

Sergeant David McIntosh said: “We’d like to thank the public for their patience and understanding as officers carry out their work in the area.

“Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious on Jamaica Street in the early hours of this morning, or has any information on the incident, should call police on 101, quoting incident 0291 of January 8.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
