Police treating tenement fire that closed several roads as deliberate 

Fire crews were called to the blaze at a building in Pollokshields at around 5.50am on Tuesday.

Police are treating a tenement fire, which sparked a number of road closures, as deliberate.

Emergency services were called to the fire at a building on Albert Drive in Pollokshields at around 5.50am on Tuesday.

Albert Drive, Kenmure Street, Leslie Street, and Keir Street were closed by police, with the public urged to avoid the area.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent four fire engines to the blaze.

Police Scotland has confirmed that no serious injuries were reported, but that the fire is being treated as wilful.

All roads have reopened as investigations are ongoing.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 5.29am on Tuesday, October 29, to reports of a fire at a commercial property on Albert Drive, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances to the scene where a fire was affecting the ground floor of a three-storey building.”
