A warning has been issued after a power failure across an area of Glasgow left streets without functioning traffic lights.

Glasgow City Council issued the warning around 9am on Thursday advising road users to take extra care at junctions after a mains power fault affecting the G42 area in the city.

The council confirmed that the traffic signals on Victoria Road at Allison Street are currently all dark.

Scottish Power engineers are working to fix the issue and aim to restore supply by 10.30am.

A spokesperson for Glasgow City Council said: “Scottish Power are currently dealing with a mains power fault affecting the Glasgow G42 area.

“As a result the traffic signals on Victoria Road at Allison Street are currently all dark.

“S.Power hope to restore supply by 10.30am this morning. Further bulletins will be issued as more information becomes available.”

A spokesperson for SP Energy Networks said: “Our engineers are onsite working to safely and swiftly repair a fault caused by a third-party damage. We apologise for any inconvenience to customers.”
