STV NewsA prison guard has been arrested and charged following allegations of having an inappropriate relationship with a prisoner at Barlinnie.
The 33-year-old woman has been charged with wilful neglect of duty at the prison in Glasgow.
The Scottish Sun reported the guard left her job shortly after being suspended by the prison service.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 33-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with wilful neglect of duty at a prison in Glasgow.
“She’s due to appear in court at a later date.”
A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “As this matter is subject to proceedings, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
Barlinnie is due to be replaced with a new prison called HMP Glasgow, which is currently expected to be completed by 2028.
