Bars, pavilions and open spaces proposed to regenerate Clydeside

The project aims to create a 'unique destination' at Custom House Quay and Carlton Place in Glasgow city centre.

A new-look waterfront development featuring bars, pavilions and open spaces has been put to the public as part of plans to regenerate Glasgow’s Clydeside.

The project aims to create a “unique destination” at Custom House Quay and Carlton Place as part of the Glasgow City Region Deal project.

Consultation sessions on the proposals took place on Wednesday.

The design will focus on the north and south banks of the city centre waterfront, addressing the structural integrity of the quay walls and enhancing green space.

Councillor Susan Aitken, leader of Glasgow City Council and chair of the Glasgow City Region Cabinet, said: “The Custom House Quay and Carlton Place project will transform a historic part of the waterfront in Glasgow city centre.

“These are very exciting proposals for a new and unique city destination, and the consultation sessions will give those taking part the chance to both learn much more about them and give their views on what they would like from the final design and masterplan.

The Glasgow City Region City Deal will see both the Scottish and UK Governments each provide £500m of funding for infrastructure projects.
