A Rangers fan who knocked a Celtic supporter unconscious for four minutes with one punch has avoided a jail term.
Dexter Morrison, 23, attacked the rival fan at Hampden Park before last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final on April 17,2022.
The Gers faced rivals Celtic in a match that would later be won by the Ibrox side in extra time.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that the Celtic supporter approached and shouted at Rangers fans.
He said: “F*****g come on then, let’s f*****g go, here I f*****g am.”
He also gestured his fist looking for a fight to start, before running at a group of Rangers fans which sparked a brawl.
Prosecutor John Bedford said: “He began to back off from the other Rangers fans.
“Morrison broke forward and punched him once to the head.
“This punch rendered him unconscious causing him to immediately fall to the ground.”
Morrison then fled the scene, avoiding the police.
Officers noted that the victim was “unconscious for at least three to four minutes.”
He also had a wound above his right eyebrow and left ear which was bleeding as well as a cut to his eyelid.
He was taken to hospital where he was found to have suffered a total of nine injuries.
This included wounds to his head and eyes.
He also sustained a fractured eye socket and internal head injuries.
Morrison, of the city’s Sandyhills, went to a police station on April 29 where he was noted to have a wound to his hand.
He pled guilty to assaulting the man to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
Sheriff Tom Hughes ordered Morrison to do 185 hours of unpaid work.
He was also tagged for 90 days keeping him indoors between 8pm and 6am.
