Rangers fans filmed singing racist chants on supporters' bus

A group of Rangers fans have been filmed singing racist chants aimed towards Celtic forward Kyogo Furuhashi.

The video, apparently recorded on a supporters’ bus travelling to the Highlands from North Lanarkshire for Sunday’s game against Ross County, has been posted online.

In the 42 second clip the group can been seen singing two songs about the Japan international and another seemingly celebrating child abuse.

Fans of both clubs have hit out against the video and asked for relevant authorities to take action.

The clip, posted on Twitter, has been viewed more than 100,000 times since it was posted on Sunday afternoon.

Rangers were involved in a high-profile campaign against racism in the sport after Slavia Prague player Kudela was banned for ten games for racially abusing Glen Kamara during a Europa League game last season and they have condemned the video.

The club are now investigating the incident and looking to identify those responsible.

A spokesman said: “Rangers condemns all forms of racism and discrimination. Those who indulge in such behaviour are not representative of our club or the loyal support who have stood by us through thick and thin.”

The Ibrox side won Sunday’s Premiership clash 4-2 to go equal on points with their Old Firm rivals ahead of next week’s derby match at Ibrox.

Furuhashi has been an instant success in Glasgow after signing for the Hoops in the summer.

The 26-year-old, signed from J League side Vissel Kobe, has scored six goals in six starts for Celtic, including a hat-trick against Dundee in his Premiership debut.

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
