Rangers player Dujon Sterling has been allowed back on the road despite appearing in court accused of drink driving.

The 26-year-old was in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday, where he faced two road traffic charges.

Court papers state Sterling drove dangerously on various roads in Glasgow city centre on January 4, 2026.

It is alleged that he drove at excessive speeds for the road conditions while behind the wheel of a grey Mercedes AMG GLE 63.

The charge goes on to say Sterling drove into the path of other road users and failed to keep a proper lookout.

Sterling is also accused of not using his indicators when required to do so and of overtaking vehicles in an unsafe manner.

He is then said to have lost control of his vehicle and caused damage to a barrier as well as the car.

A second charge says that he had 60 microgrammes of alcohol within 100 millilitres of breath when the legal limit is 22 microgrammes.

Sterling had played for Rangers against Celtic the previous day in a match they won 3-1.

Sterling, of the city’s Dowanhill, made no plea and was represented by his lawyer Michael Lyon.

The solicitor asked for his client to be bailed on standard conditions pending a hearing in May.

He added: “I have engaged with the Crown and I’m awaiting disclosure.

“There was an additional bail condition that prevents him from driving and I ask that be lifted.”

Prosecutor Katie Gardner also asked for the standard conditions of bail to be set with no special conditions.

This was granted by Sheriff Jonathan Guy.
