Road closed for 'foreseeable future' after lorry collided with bridge

A road in Renfrew is set to be closed for the foreseeable future after a lorry collided with a bridge on Wednesday.

The heavy load vehicle travelled along the M8 when it crashed into the bridge over the motorway at around 2.50pm.

Lanes from junction 27 were initially closed heading towards Glasgow Airport, however, they have since reopened.

Police Scotland has since confirmed Arkleston Road in Renfrew will be closed for the immediate future.

Detectives have urged those with information to come forward.

Police Sergeant Adnan Alam of the Road Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. I would appeal to motorists with dash cam footage to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting 2011 on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.”
