A support worker from Renfrew has received a warning after she left a vulnerable woman alone with a head injury.
Ellenestina Nkonde found the woman on the floor with blood on her head when she arrived for a visit on November 25 last year.
She did not inform the care coordinator or the office of the head injury.
The support worker then left the visit early, which contributed to the woman being left with an untreated head injury for 30 minutes.
The Scottish Social Services Council deemed that Nkonde’s actions “fell below the standards expected”.
It was concluded that a warning would be placed on her record for a year due to the social worker’s co-operation, lack of experience and training.
The report read: “Your decision to leave a user of services was a poor one.
“You knew that she had fallen, was injured and was confused. You should have stayed with AA (the woman) for the full time allocated and provided her with support and reassurance.”
