The roof of a block of flats has torn off by extreme winds due to Storm Isha leaving residents “terrified”.
Scottish Fire and Rescue crews were called to Ashiestiel Place in Cumbernauld after 9pm on Sunday amid an amber weather warning for wind and rain.
Resident Margaret MacDonald told STV News she thought the noise from the roof was like an explosion.
She said: “I was lying in bed and I know the wind was really, really strong.
“The wind was whistling through the flat, and all of a sudden I just heard this huge explosion.
“Honestly, it sounded like a bomb going off.
“At first I thought it was maybe a gas explosion. It was that loud.
“The debris was everywhere. It was really, really, really, frightening.
“I was terrified. I was really scared.”
It comes as Storm Isha has left four people dead and thousands without power across the UK and Ireland.
At around 11.45pm on Sunday, a Hyundai car hit a fallen tree on the A905, Beancross Road in Grangemouth.
Emergency services attended, however the front seat passenger, an 84-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has been contacted for comment.
