Restaurant closed after worker tests positive for Covid-19

An East Renfrewshire restaurant has been forced to close its doors after a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

Ca-Va Brasserie in Giffnock told customers it would shut for “for a period of time that will be governed by the Public Health Protection Unit GGC”.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has told other staff members who have been identified as close contacts to the positive case to self-isolate for 14 days.

It warned customers who visited the venue from August 9 – 11 to be aware of symptoms and to self-isolate immediately if suffering a fever or cough.

NHSGGC’s Dr Gillian Penrice said: “All relevant Public Health measures are in place and myself and our Public Health Team are working with the restaurant to manage and monitor the situation.

“We would ask customers who have been in the restaurant from mid-afternoon onwards on Sunday 9, Monday 10 or Tuesday 11 to be aware of the symptoms of a fever, persistent cough or loss of taste or smell. If concerned they need to self-isolate immediately and book a test for Covid-19.”

A spokesman for Ca Va Brasserie said:“A member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

“As soon as this was discovered we closed the restaurant and arranged for a thorough clean.

“The safety of staff and customers is our absolute priority, and we won’t reopen until that can be assured.

“We are now working closely with the NHS and other relevant authorities to ensure everyone is kept safe.”
