Roads shut and locals advised to keep windows closed due to building blaze

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the blaze on Kilmarnock's High Street on Thursday evening.

Roads have been closed, businesses have been impacted, and local residents have been advised to keep their windows shut as firefighters continue to tackle a building fire in Kilmarnock.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the blaze, which took hold at the rear of the building on King Street, at around 8.58pm on Monday.

A number of appliances and specialist units remain in attendance as firefighters worked through the night to extinguish the flames.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

Police said King Street and Sandbed Lane are closed, as well as a number of the roads leading to King Street and Sandbed Lane.

A number of business premises have been impacted and will remain closed, including the Burns Mall.

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area.
