Royal Mail has suspended deliveries to residents of a tower block in East Kilbride to “ensure the safety” of their postal workers.
The postal service confirmed that they have currently placed a delivery exemption on all 114 flats in Clyde Tower due to a “serious incident of abuse”.
After a threats to “use a dog” were made towards a postman in May, a delivery exemption was placed on the person involved and their floor in the tower.
However, the delivery block was extended in October to the entire building after a new employee was followed throughout the building and threatened again with the use of a dog.
The exemption will continued to be assessed.
A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “We take the welfare of our posties very seriously and, where necessary, will take steps to ensure their safety.
“We will continue to assess the current exemption however, it is our priority that posties are able to carry out their duties without fear of violence.”
