A runner has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in South Lanarkshire.
The 40-year-old man was on the B7086 in Strathaven at the junction with Roman Road, Sandford, around 7.15pm on Monday when he was hit by a black Volkswagen Scirocco.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and the pedestrian was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where his condition is described as serious.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
The road was closed for seven hours while investigations were carried out.
Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash and who haven’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.
“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash cam footage or private CCTV which could assist to contact us.”
