A man has died in hospital nearly a week after an incident at a commercial premises in East Ayrshire.
Emergency services were called to the site on Kilmarnock Road, in Mauchline, at around 8.40am on Friday, June 18, after receiving reports of a 24-year-old being injured.
The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Wednesday.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has now launched an investigation into the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 24-year-old man who was injured at a commercial premises in Kilmarnock Road, Mauchline has died.
“Emergency services attended the incident around 8.40am on Friday, June 28, 2024 and the man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
“He died on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
The man’s identity has not yet been made public.
A HSE spokesperson said: “We are aware of this incident and investigating.”
