A schoolboy has been charged in connection with online threats made to a primary school in North Lanarkshire.
Students and staff at the joint St Aloysius’ and Chapelhall campus were the subject of “threatening communications” by a 12-year-old boy, according to Police Scotland.
The threat, which was not thought to be credible, was reported to officers by staff, a council spokesperson said.
“The school was made aware of a potential threat to the safety of pupils and staff which was immediately reported to Police Scotland,” they added.
“Although the threat is not thought to be credible, we are supporting Police Scotland with their enquiries. As always, the safety of pupils and staff is our absolute priority.”
The boy was later reported to the children’s reporter.
Officers stressed there was no threat to the wider public.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.30pm on Monday, May 22 we received a report of threatening communications online.
“A 12-year-old boy has been charged in connection and a report has been submitted to the Children’s Reporter.”
