Police are searching for a woman who came to the aid of a schoolboy after he was attacked by a masked gang in North Lanarkshire.
Officers said the 13-year-old was seriously assaulted by a group of youths between 8.15pm and 8.40pm on Friday in Moodiesburn in the Glenmanor Avenue area near shops.
The group are described as being between 12 and 20 years old, all wearing dark clothing with hoods up and their faces covered.
Officers are keen to trace a woman who came to the aid of the 13-year-old, taking him home before he was taken to hospital.
Detective Constable Craig Hartley of CID said: “Our investigation in this serious assault is ongoing.
“We are reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out door-to-door enquiries to identify those responsible.
“I would appeal to motorists who were in the area and have dash-cam footage to come forward, you may have captured something that can assist our enquiries.
“We are keen to trace a woman who came to the aid of the victim.
“She took him home before he went to hospital for treatment. It’s important that she comes forward to assist our investigation.”
