The school communities of two Scottish boys killed in a crash on the M6 alongside a mother and father have paid tribute to the “kind and caring” brothers.
Dominic and Filip Rossa, aged seven and 15, died in the collision involving a Skoda and a Toyota on Tuesday, October 15, on the motorway heading north past Tebay Services.
Jaroslaw Rossa, 42, the driver of the Toyota, was killed alongside his sons and Jade McEnroe, 33, who was a passenger in the car also died.
Ms McEnroe’s son, a seven-year-old boy named Arran, was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where he remains with serious injuries.
Richard Woods from Cambridgeshire, the 40-year-old male driver of the Skoda, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cumbria Police said they had received reports of a Skoda travelling the wrong way on the motorway prior to the crash.
Katy Anderson, headteacher at Lochend Community High School in Glasgow said: “Our school community is in shock, and we cannot believe the news about Filip.
“He was a well loved and respected young person who has touched the lives of so many in our school community and was our school chess champion.
“A highly intelligent, caring boy with a brilliant sense of humour, Filip was particularly fond of his science subjects and aspired to go to university to study either architecture or science.
“Filip was always the first to help in a situation and it is now our turn to help and send our love to his family and friends at this heartbreaking time.
“We will do everything that we can to support the family and navigate our school community through this devastating situation.”
Vanessa Thomson, headteacher at Oakwood Primary School in Glasgow said: “Dominic was a beautiful, kind, curious wee boy who loved life and always had a smile on his face.
“He had a magnetic personality and always had a story to tell everyone in school and we all took joy in the obvious interests and love he had in life and his world around him.
“Dominic loved art and storytelling, creating his own imaginative creative worlds.
“Our school community is heartbroken, and our thoughts and prayers are with Dominic’s family and friends – we cannot begin to image how they are dealing with the devastating news.
“Dominic’s gentle, kind, thoughtfulness will be so missed by all of us at Oakwood, who loved him dearly.”
Family tributes to ‘intelligent and resolute’ children
Dominic and Filip’s mother Kamila said: “We are heartbroken at the passing of our beloved angels – Filip and Dominic.
“Filip was very intelligent, sensitive and full of love. We will never forget his smile, open arms, and the words “tuli, tuli” (hugs, hugs).
“He was fascinated by computer games but also incredibly good at chess. He loved chemistry and dreamed of studying at the University of Glasgow.
“Dominic was always smiling, very resolute and sociable. He was extremely caring, always thinking of others first, and the first to help if someone was in trouble.
“Always surrounded by a group of friends of all ages. He loved dinosaurs and Pokémon, but most of all he loved penguins and dreamed of adopting one.
“Our lives will never be the same again.”
In tribute to their daughter, Jade’s parents said: “Our beloved daughter Jade, you are so loved, and we will miss you every day.
“You are a very much-loved mummy to Arran.”
Arran’s father said: “I would like to thank everyone for their kind messages, to the emergency services and the members of the public that assisted at the scene.”
