The owner of Scotland’s largest covered shopping centre has gone into administration weeks before Christmas.
Sapphire, which operates the EK centre in East Kilbride, has called in administrators following a “challenging” trading period.
Blair Nimmo and Alistair McAlinden of Interpath Advisory have been appointed joint administrators of the centre, which features more than 150 shops, restaurants, a cinema and an ice rink.
It will remain open as normal during the administration period, with business continuing “as normal”.
“As we enter the important festive trading period, our priority is to consider the most appropriate strategy to preserve value in this important retail destination,” Mr McAlinden said.
