A Scottish man is fighting for his life in hospital after being involved in a scooter crash in Bali.

The family of Euan Kay say he has been left with two bleeds in the brain and life-changing facial injuries following the crash.

The 26-year-old was en route home to Glasgow after spending a year in Australia and was in Bali on holiday when the crash took place.

The family say more than £20,000 is needed to perform surgery.

More than £34,000 has already been raised to support his family after the fundraiser was posted on Wednesday.

A post on the GoFundMe reads: “We have been given a 30 to 70% chance of survival for his injuries if he does not get surgery. We are absolutely distraught.

“Unfortunately, Euan does not have insurance for this type of accident, and we have the hospital on the phone needing 20k before they will operate.

“He needs life-saving surgery today, and we need to get my mum over there too. That is the total owed after less than 24 hours in the hospital over there.

“Any help would be appreciated at this very distressing time for us all.”

The Foreign Office has been contacted for comment.
