A search has been launched after reports that a young girl was seen walking alone in Carluke before 7am on Sunday morning.
Police officers carried out enquiries but could not identify or trace the girl who was reportedly seen in the Cairneymount Avenue area at the junction with Chapel Street at around 6.55am on February 14.
Police were called at 7.45am and the search is still ongoing but officers have appealed to members of the public to get in touch if they have information about the little girl.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At 7.45am on Saturday, February 14, 2021, we received a report of a young girl walking alone in the area of Cairneymount Avenue at its junction with Chapel Street, Carluke, at around 6.55am.
“Officers have carried out extensive enquiries and have not identified or traced this person. We have not received any reports of a missing person.
“Enquiries are still ongoing and should any member of the public have information regarding this, please contact police on 101 quoting incident number 0832 of February 14.”
