Police have launched a search for a vulnerable 12-year-old girl.

Kerys Lynch was last seen leaving her house in Kilwinning in North Ayrshire at around 12.30pm on Monday.

Her disappearance was reported to police at 11pm after she failed to return home and was unable to be traced.

Officers have been making enquiries in the areas she is known to frequent, which includes Irvine, Largs and around North Ayrshire, but so far there has been no sight of her.

Sergeant Claire Walker said: “The fact that she has been away overnight, and as she is only 12-years-old, is a concern for everyone.

“It appears that she may be in the North Ayrshire area, possibly Irvine, but that has very much still to be confirmed.

“She has no money with her as far as we are aware, but has her phone.

“We would ask people to keep an eye out for her and if seen, please contact police.

“We would appeal especially to Kerys’ friends – if she has been in touch then let us know. We just want to make sure she is safe and well.”

If you’ve seen Kerys or have information as to her whereabouts, call 101.
