A search has been launched for a teenage boy who was seen possibly entering water in South Lanarkshire on Thursday.
Emergency services were alerted to a concern for a person last seen walking near the water in Caldermill, Strathaven, at around 8pm.
Detectives believe the boy was seen entering the water near Darvel Road. The individual is described as a teenage male, dressed all in black, carrying a black Nike rucksack with a white logo.
Officers, assisted by partner agencies, carried out a full search of the area, but no one was traced.
Inspector Chris Kennedy said: “We have not received any reports of anyone missing from the area; however, we are working to trace the man seen walking there on Thursday evening to ensure that he is safe and well.
“Further searches are taking place on Friday, February 20, however, we would urge anyone who was in this area around 8pm on Thursday evening to contact us if they have any information that may assist.”
Those with information are urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3038 of February 19, 2026.
