Search launched for white van after cyclist seriously injured in Kilsyth hit-and-run

A search has been launched for a white van after a cyclist was knocked down in a hit-and-run in North Lanarkshire.

The crash happened on Takmadoon Road near to Berryhill Farm, Kilsyth, between 7.30pm and 8pm on Wednesday.

The van fled the scene, and the 60-year-old male cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment to what were described as serious injuries.

Sergeant Gary Stewart of Police Scotland Road policing unit said: ‘’Our enquiries are ongoing to trace the van involved and establish the full circumstances of this crash and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash cam footage that could assist to get in touch.

‘’In particular I would like to speak with a man and woman who were within a blue saloon vehicle that stopped to assist.”
