Search launched to trace climate activist missing from Kirkintilloch, Glasgow for over a month

Concerns are growing for a climate activist who has been missing from Glasgow for over a month.

Amy Campbell was last seen around 11pm on Thursday, March 16 on Glenview in Kirkintilloch.

She was officially reported missing to police on April 4 and police have been conducting enquiries to trace her.

The 38-year-old is described as white, around 5ft 7ins tall, with long blonde hair and blue eyes.

Climate activism group Just Stop Oil previously issued an appeal on social media in an effort to trace her.

In a post, the group wrote: “Have you seen our friend Amy? We haven’t seen her since March 15 and are worried.

“If you have any information please get in touch with Just Stop Oil Scotland. Amy is usually in the Glasgow, Edinburgh and Kirkintilloch areas. Her last known location was around Edinburgh and Kirkintilloch.

“She is a passionate campaigner for social justice, climate justice and trans rights. She has supported so many of us in our struggles for fair pay, social housing, action on poverty and stopping climate breakdown. Please share widely in your networks.”

Enquiries have been carried out and officers know that Amy is known to travel extensively around Scotland and is a keen hillwalker.

She has links to the Edinburgh and Argyll and Bute areas and is not believed to have access to a vehicle.

Inspector Alan Ferris said: “It’s out of character for Amy not to be in touch with her family and friends. We just want to know she is safe and well. Her family is very worried.

“If anyone has seen Amy or has any information or knowledge as to her whereabouts, please contact police as a matter of urgency”.
