A second man has been charged in connection with the death of a grandad who was allegedly stabbed near his home in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to Dalness Close in the Tollcross area after they were alerted to a disturbance at around 12.25pm on Monday.

James Greenhorn, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives said they were treating the incident as targeted and the death as murder.

After following a “definite line of enquiry” officers have charged a second man, aged 23, in connection with the attack.

He is due to appear in court on Monday

Another man, named Sean Murray, has already appeared in court, accused of assaulting Mr Greenhorn.

Court papers state that the 30-year-old pursued Mr Greenhorn and repeatedly struck him on the head and body with a knife.

The charge goes on to say Murray, of the city’s Shettleston, repeatedly punched and kicked him on the head and body.

A second allegation states that Murray attempted to pervert the course of justice between February 9 and 11.

It is claimed that Murray boarded a train from Edinburgh Waverley train station to Liverpool.

The charge says this was done to avoid detection, arrest and prosecution for the murder allegation.

Murray – who was represented by his lawyer Peter Malone – made no plea at a private hearing in Glasgow Sheriff Court.

Murray was remanded in custody and committed for further examination by Sheriff Mary Shields.

He will appear again at court within the next eight days.
