Train services are facing disruption after a train broke down in Stirling.

ScotRail confirmed that a train developed a fault between Stirling and Larbert at around 6pm on Saturday.

Assistance units are removing the train, meaning no services beyond Stirling towards Larbert will be running.

Scotrail confirmed that services between Dunblane and Edinburgh, and between Glasgow Queen Street and Alloa will be cancelled, delayed or revised.

In a statement posted on X, Scotrail said: “The broken down freight train has been declared a failure and an assistance unit will now make its way to remove the train.

“We are unable to run any services beyond Stirling towards Larbert at this time. Replacement transport has been requested but not yet confirmed.”
