Shooting Spider-Man: Brand New Day scenes in Glasgow was ‘awesome’, says actor Tom HollandSTV News

Tom Holland has said shooting scenes for the upcoming Spider-Man movie in Glasgow was “awesome”.

The fourth instalment of the Spider-Man movies, starring Holland as web-slinging hero Peter Parker, is set for release on July 31.

Brand New Day follows Spider-Man after the events of No Way Home, which included former Spider-Man actors Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire reprising their roles.

Last year, production for the new film transformed Glasgow into New York City, complete with fake construction sites, New York Police Department vehicles, and classic yellow taxis.

In a newly released trailer, the star discusses the action sequences shot in the Scottish city.

Holland said: “We shot the most stunts on the day in camera.

“Putting Spider-Man on the street with cars on the street exploding, it’s just so awesome. It’s going to allow the audience to be a part of this experience.”

Holland himself stopped to meet fans in the city who lined the streets to watch explosive scenes being filmed.

“Shooting that opening action sequence was really exhilarating; it was the first thing we did,” said director Destin Daniel Cretton.

“We were seeing thousands of people showing up to watch us work.

“It was a really lovely reminder to all of us how much this movie means to a lot of people in the world.”

Holland also appeared in Scotland last year in Moray for filming on Christopher Nolan’s new epic, The Odyssey, set for release in July.

Glasgow has played host to a number of hit movies in recent years, featuring in The Batman starring Robert Pattinson and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny starring Harrison Ford.
