Watch as shots fired at Batmobile as Glasgow turns into Gotham for dramatic filming

Scotland’s largest city is set to return to the silver screen as Gotham after playing a key role in the 2022 superhero film

Shots were fired at the Batmobile as Glasgow turned into Gotham for dramatic filming over the weekend.

Scotland’s largest city is set to return as Gotham after playing a key role in the 2022 superhero film starring Robert Pattinson.

Dozens of road closures and restrictions will be in place across the city over the next two months, following the arrival of production crews last week.

Glasgow has been transformed multiple times into the fictional Gotham City, including in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and the scrapped Batgirl film (2021).

Works have been ongoing since last week on art installations under the Kingston Bridge at the Newton Street car park.

Images from the area show a car with a filming sign reading “Semper Vigilans”, rumoured to be the working title for the new Batman movie.

A recent picture showed the Batmobile arriving on St Vincent Street, with filming taking place during the night on Saturday.

Dramatic footage showed officers firing shots at the Batmobile as it spun in the city centre under snowy conditions.

Dozens of Gotham Police cars follow the vehicle as it peels through streets such as St Vincent Street, Bothwell Street, and Wellington Street.

It is unclear whether Pattinson or co-star Scarlett Johansson will be in the city to film scenes.

The Batman: Part II is scheduled for release in cinemas on February 18, 2028.
