Fire rages from industrial estate near Commonwealth Games arena

No injuries have been reported as a result, an SFRS spokesperson confirmed.

Plumes of smoke were seen billowing across from a famous Glasgow sports arena on Tuesday, after a nearby industrial estate caught on fire.

Fire crews were called to the scene on Nuneaton Street, near the Emirates Arena, at around 5.08pm on Tuesday.

No injuries have been reported as a result, an SFRS spokesperson confirmed.

The raging blaze appears to have originated at a nearby industrial estate which houses a waste management service and a van rental agency.

Police Scotland said officers are assisting with traffic management and asked residents in the area to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke.

It comes a few months after firefighters tackled a “complex” fire at the waste management service, in February.
