A South Lanarkshire park has been cordoned off after a woman was allegedly attacked on Wednesday night.

Emergency services were called to the Dixon Street area of Hamilton at around 11.30pm following reports of an assault.

Officers have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with the incident.

The council has confirmed Bent Lane, Bent Recreation Park and Bent Park and Stride remain closed following the attack.

An investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.30pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, police received a report of the assault of a woman in the Dixon Street area of Hamilton.

“A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries remain ongoing.”
