A man has described a near miss which saw him standing just feet away from his car when extreme Storm Isha winds blew a chimney off a roof and onto his car.
Ian Bremner, from Airdrie, had gone out to right some bins blown over by the strong winds which saw widespread disruption across Scotland.
Gusts of 111mph and 107.8mph were recorded at Aonach Mor and on the Tay Road Bridge.
“I was picking up bins which had blown over in the garden when I heard a noise like an explosion and my car alarm went off at the same time,” Mr Bremner told STV News.
He went to investigate, as gales continued to blow which a Met Office weather warning still in force across the country.
“I went down the drive to see what had happened and discovered the chimney from the roof above the car had crashed through the back windscreen of my car,” he said.
“I was only about ten feet away from it when it came down.”
Forecasters had warned of a “danger to life” amid flying debris and large waves in coastal areas.
A newly-named Storm Jocelyn is set to arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Scotland to see more wet and windy conditions.
