Strictly fans left standing in rain as live show cancelled

Fans waiting to see the Strictly Come Dancing live show at the Glasgow Hydro have been left standing in the rain after the show was cancelled due to a water leak.

Tickets for the performance say that entry to the venue would be at 12.30pm but fans, some with young children, were left standing in pouring rain for nearly two hours before being told the show was cancelled.

One fan, who was there with her six-year-old grandson Luka contacted STV News to say they had been locked out.

Ena Marinovic said: “The doors were supposed to be open at 12.30.

“All they were telling us is that is a technical issue. They wouldn’t even let us into the foyer area and everyone has been left in the rain, not ideal with so many young children here.

“When they eventually told us it was cancelled it was nearly 2pm, half an hour after it was supposed to have started.

“Loads of people were very upset, i’m surprised there wasn’t a riot.”

And another couple have been left out of pocket after travelling from Alloa, paying for a night in a hotel and taking the day off work to see the show.

June Stewart said: “It is shocking! We have asked if we can use tickets for tonight’s show but we were told we have to phone the ticket seller tomorrow to see about a refund.

“They won’t even tell us why it has been cancelled, after leaving us standing here for hours.”

The Hydro said in a statement released on Twitter: “We are sorry to say that due to a water leak which affected the stage area, today’s matinee has had to be cancelled.

“The team worked hard to resolve the problem which became apparent shortly before doors opened. The cause of which is unknown.

“We are liaising with the promoter of the event to reschedule the show, however refunds are available from point of purchase and we sincerely apologise to those affected.”
