A submariner has been cleared of raping a colleague at Faslane naval base.

Jake Wilson had denied claims from the woman that he had raped her after a party at the naval base near Garelochhead on May 11, 2023.

Wilson claimed the woman had consented to the encounter after a night of heavy drinking.

The 38-year-old, of Gosport, Hampshire, was also charged with sexually assaulting a second submariner on various occasions between October 1, 2021 and November 3, 2022.

He denied the charges and lodged a special defence that both complainers consented to sexual activity.

On Friday, Wilson was found not guilty of rape by a majority verdict at Livingston High Court.

He was also acquitted of the sexual assault of the second co-worker.
